Chayote is a Summer squash (find out more) that grows locally and is a great substitute to papaya.
This time it replaces seafood and gives a tangy and refreshing dish!
Start with the chopping. Peel off and cut the chayote into chunks. Cut the tomatoes and onion into dices. Chop the coriander. Set aside.
In a bowl, squeeze the lime (for a sweeter result you can combine with orange juice). Add the nori seaweed cut into small pieces, the chili powder and salt.
Pour in the chopped veggies. Stir well, cover and marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Before serving, cut the avocado into cubes and add in. Its neutral taste will bring balance to this tangy dish!
